Henry was named after his uncle, Bernie Barnato who was the partner of Cecil Rhodes in the Rhodesian diamond mines. He died in the 1880s, a wealthy but childless man, so he left all his nieces and nephews an annuity to keep them comfortable all their lives. It was apparently a fixed sum of approximately 100 pounds per year -- a princely sum in his time, but by the time the last niece died almost 100 years later, it was no longer of much value.
Barnato was a "made-up" name. His original name was something like Barnett-Isaacs.
