Shlomo was the brother of Alta's father, and he loved her from childhood. He wanted to marry Alta but the parents objected. The family had an old-fashioned brewery producing beer in the backyard. There was also a well supplying water for the brewery. On a Saturday eve, after the prayer of Havdala, when the brewmaster came to start mixing his brew, Shlomo climbed into the old well and ylled "help

" The brewmaster alarmed everybody and they managed to pull him out alive, and learned that he wanted to drown himself because he could not marry Alta. That was in the town of Lahowitz. In Kletzk, a town nearby, lived the Kletzker Hassidic Rebbe. Alta's father went to him for counsel. And the Rabbe said, let them get married and that is that
