Josef Kolarik arrived on 27 Mar 1905 aboard the La Bretagne. Details.
"#27, Josef Kolarik, aged 19, male, single, occupation labourer, can read
and write, country Hungary, race Slovak, from Mador, destination St.
Louis MO, has a ticket to his destination, has $9 ($10 entered and
crossed out), never before in the US, going to his brother-in-law, [M.
Staban?], 1017 Lafayette Ave. Port of departure Le Havre,
Seine-Inferior, France." The La Bretagne was built for French Line in
1886. It was 508 feet long and 51 feet wide. It held 1,060 passengers
(402 1st class, 60 2nd class, 598 3rd class).

The returning Kolarik family arrived on 18 Jun 1923 aboard the
Pittsburgh. Details: "#8-12, Joseph Kolarik, aged 37, male,
naturalized, destination 711 Chestnut Street, Johnstown PA [the home of
his brother-in-law, Josef Dinda]. Port of departure Breman, Germany.
Travelling with Anna [aged 30], Viera [aged 4 years 3 mos], Darina [aged
2 years 11 mos], and Eleanora [aged 11 mos]." Just below them on the
manifest are listed the 7 members of the John Kucharik family. Vera and
Doris's birthdates and place are entered by hand, but Eleanor's is not
listed. However, their birthdates are garbled: Vera 3 Feb 1917
[correct 03 Feb 1919], Doris 31 May 1919 [correct 31 May 1920] in
contrast to their ages which are given correctly.

1930 Census
Their home was rented for $30 a month. They owned a radio. Ted is
listed as "Mickie B T".
